We have all had moments in our lives where we have felt to do something specific and the outcome was to our advantage.  For example you turn down a certain street and avoid an accident, you don’t make a big purchase then there is an accident at home and you have the money to cover it, or something simple as saying hello to someone and turns out you brightened up their day.  I hope we can all agree we are aware of these happenings because they surround us.  I have had this happen on countless occasions.  The first was when I was serving an LDS mission in Colombia, now moments like these were a dime a dozen because they happened everyday.  My mission companion and I were walking the streets and I had a subtle feeling to go visit someone.  We promptly went there and turns out they desperately needed our help and had no way of contacting us, instead we showed up just in time.  The second doesn’t reap immediate rewards and actually causes some drama.  Recently I felt an impression to act on in my life.  I need to change and make changes, so I did, following a small feeling and a faint whisper.  Some people around me were upset and it effected them a lot.  I have faith in the decision I made to follow what I was feeling, even though it hasn’t produced immediate miracles except the comfort I feel inside.

Not listening to these little things we feel or hear can produce the negative effects we do not need or want.  I have felt to not drive a certain way and I ended up in a huge traffic jam, simple and silly I know but the result is the same.  I know people who have denied these impressions for one reason or another and lived to regret that day.  God doesn’t speak at random or jokingly, only from His loving heart and infinite wisdom He directs us.

I attribute these small, faint, and almost unnoticeable feelings or “voice” to our Father in Heaven.  He speaks to us because He is aware of us, we are not lost in a crowd, and He loves us individually.  God never has to play Where’s Waldo with us because we are accounted for at all times.  In 1 Kings 19:11-12 we read of a “still small voice” that came out of some strong winds, falling rocks, an earthquake, and a fire.  We are enshrouded by our own strong winds, earthquakes, and fires through the distractions of this world.  Our natural desires are enticed by such loud noises that call for our attention and “scream” at us for our approval.  God’s voice doesn’t need to compete with these tumultuous noises. His voice will make it through any chaos in to the depths of our souls.

“And it came to pass when they heard this voice, and beheld that it was not a voice of thunder, neither was it a voice of a great tumultuous noise, but behold, it was a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper, and it did pierce even to the very soul—” -Helaman 5:30

This voice is only trying to guide and direct us.  Why would a loving Heavenly Father want to lead us into harms way, rather than away from it? He wouldn’t.  Is it safe to say that pretty much every father wants the best for his children?  Can’t the same thing go for an Eternal Father in Heaven that has an inconceivable love for His children? That feeling you get sometimes to do certain things, call it intuition or conscience, I call it God’s voice.  I firmly believe He has a plan for each and everyone of us and will be in the details of our everyday lives.  I have heard His still small voice within the chaos, my only job is to be listening and try and stand above the noise to hear it.  I believe that acting on these subtleties will give some immediate results and some distant.  I don’t believe God would whisper to us and ask something that He hasn’t already planned out for us to fulfill His command.  It’s better to obey and know then to deny and suffer.  I say listen to that little voice that entices to do good and I promise wonderful blessings will be more abundant in our life.  We are not out of God’s reach, His voice is present in every living soul.  Listen!
