What if…

I am writing this with an eternal perspective.  By that I think about our destiny and what we are capable of.  This life isn’t it, there is so much more that I can’t comprehend.  What if Adam and Eve didn’t partake of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil?  There is a great scripture that explains this better than I could.

“And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.  And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.” -2 Nephi 2 22-23

Do you see what I mean?  I begin to think about that and I am amazed by the wisdom and planning of our Heavenly Father.  He knew that in order for us to learn and progress we need to have a chance to experience the bitter so that we may comprehend the sweet.  I love that about this great Plan of Salvation.  None of this would be if Adam and Eve didn’t fall.  I look around me and see so many people that are more like me than I initially imagine.  We are all gods in the making and we have the same potential.  I love looking at someone that I would pass judgement on and remember we all chose to leave the presence of God.  We are all here just trying to figure things out.  This Plan of Salvation started with the prayerful and heart felt choice from Adam and Eve.  I am grateful they did what they did, otherwise I would not feel this great joy and at times tremendous sorrow.

An Apostle of the Lord said this,

“Thus, from the moment those first parents stepped out of the Garden of Eden, the God and Father of us all, anticipating Adam and Eve’s decision, dispatched the very angels of heaven to declare to them—and down through time to us—that this entire sequence was designed for our eternal happiness.” – Elder Jeffery R. Holland

This the most amazing part of what Adam and Eve did.  If they never did what they did, we would never have been blessed to have the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ because He would have not been needed.  Since sin would have never existed a Mediator would never have stepped in the middle of us and beg God to forgive us.  Christ is the light, life and the way, no body can make it to God’s presence unless it’s through Him.  (John 14:6)  I am so grateful I have my Savior Jesus Christ and all that He has given me the power to accomplish.  The thought of me not in existence makes me sad and also so happy I am here.  I say let’s not waste this time we have on things that won’t benefit us on an eternal scale.  We are privileged to be here on this Earth!  Let’s make a change because that’s why God put us here!  What Adam and Eve was a blessing for each and every one of us.  It was the first step in God’s Plan of Salvation.

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” -1 Corinthians 15:22

I will make my Heavenly Father proud!!!
